Katherine McCall worked as a nurse at Cherry Tree House nursing home in Carrickfergus in the United Kingdom from 2007-2011. The Nursing and Midwifery Council announced that they found sufficient evidence that McCall failed to properly investigate allegations of abuse in five separate abuse cases.
The reports began in 2010 when McCall was reported by the owner of Cherry Tree because she did not properly investigate a complaint waged against a care assistant. Last week, the Nursing and Midwifery Council found McCall was guilty of “bringing the nursing profession into disrepute.” Calling it a sad day for the profession, the current manager of Cherry Tree is apologizing to anyone who was affected by the neglect of McCall. Of course, McCall has since been terminated from Cherry Tree as a result of the incident.
