Family Files Lawsuit After New York Nursing Home Resident Gets Lap Dance From Stripper Against Her Will.

The family of an 85-year-old woman has filed a lawsuit claiming that the woman was forced to receive a lap dance from a male stripper while she was a resident at a Long Island nursing home.

The family of Bernice Youngblood says she was a resident at the East Neck Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Babylon, NY in September 2012 when the incident happened.  According to the lawsuit, Bernice’s son, Franklin, was visiting his mother in January 2013 when he found a photograph of the incident.  The photograph shows Youngblood sitting, apparently in her wheelchair, while a stripper in his underwear appears to dance on top of her. Franklin Youngblood stated that when he confronted a nursing home employee about the photograph, she attempted to grab it out of his hand.

Now, Franklin and his family are suing the nursing home, claiming that Bernice suffers from dementia and was traumatized by the experience. The Youngbloods’ attorney, John Ray, claims that “nursing home employees subjected” Bernice “to this disgraceful sexual perversion.” At a news conference regarding the incident, Bernice Youngblood claims that she was “ashamed” and felt “terrible” about the incident, but could not recall any specific details.

The nursing home has defended itself, stating through its attorney, Howard Fensterman, that the residents had requested the stripper show, paid a $250 fee, and were willing participants.  Furthermore, Festerman claims, Bernice was taken to the show by a family friend, not nursing home employees.

The Youngbloods’ lawsuit seeks unspecified personal injury damages.
