46 year-old Stephanie Ray Barton was indicted recently on 7 counts of illegally obtaining Lorcet, a prescription painkiller, while she was on duty as a nurse at the Golden Age Nursing Home. Barton allegedly signed for the Lorcet for her patients, but then kept the drugs herself. She is no longer working at the Golden Age Nursing Home.
A grand jury indicted Barton in August, but this was only made public after Barton was served with the criminal indictment last week.
Barton surrendered herself to the authorities last Wednesday.
If she is found guilty on all 7 counts, Barton could go to prison for up to 35 years.
