Possible Heat-Related Death Being Investigated Regarding South Carolina Nursing Home.

Local South Carolina law enforcement officials are investigating a possible heat-related death in an Easely, South Carolina nursing home.

An elderly woman collapsed in the nursing home last week and was taken to a local hospital.  She was pronounced dead at the hospital later that day.  The coroner reported that one of the wings of the nursing home did not have working air conditioning prior to the woman’s death.

The coroner did not immediately release the woman’s name, but the niece of the woman has come forward and identified her aunt as Eloise Arnold.  Arnold’s niece stated that she visited her aunt in the nursing home and that she did not see any air conditioners.  When she returned to the nursing home after her aunt’s death, air conditioners had been installed.
