Nursing Home Worker Accused of Taking Medication From Patients.

37 year-old Katrina Calvert-Hervey worked as a state-certified medication aide at the New Hope Manor nursing home in Cedar Park, Texas.  She was arrested this past week for allegedly stealing prescription medications from the nursing home residents and giving them to her husband to sell on the street.

Calvert-Hervey has been criminally charged with the diversion of controlled substances.  The local police department reported that undercover officers bought a total of 11 oxycodone pills, 188 hydrocodone pills, 10 diazepam pills, 33 morphine pills, 13 methadone pills and 91 alprazolam pills from her husband.

Upon exercising a search warrant, police also found 219 dosage units of other controlled substances in Calvert-Hervey’s home.  Calvert-Hervey told authorities that she took the medication home as part of her job as a medication aide in order to document which patients received their medicine.  She has been working at the nursing home since December of 2010.
