NY Attorney General Files Lawsuit Against 10 Rochester Nursing Home Employees.

Ten employees at the Blossom North Nursing Home in Rochester, NY are facing criminal charges for neglecting a patient in their care.

The patient in question was a double-amputee, partially paralyzed, and had type-2 diabetes, glaucoma, and impaired cognition. According to a lawsuit filed by the New York State Attorney General, the AG’s office was alerted to the potential neglect by the patient’s son, and it then installed hidden cameras to monitor the man.  Footage from these cameras shows the nursing home employees continually neglecting the patient, by failing to monitor his blood sugar levels or give him medication, and by leaving him immobile in his bed for extended periods of time.

The AG’s office also alleges that the nursing home employees falsified medical records to hide their neglect and abuse.

The nursing home employees named as defendants in the case include six nurses, Junetta Jenkins, Jasmine Franco, Champagne Anderson, Savannah Harding, Binita Dahal and Faye Aguillon, and four nursing assistants, Krista Stevenson, Christy Holmes, Elizabeth Acevedo and Iesha Short.  The AG’s office is seeking various felony and misdemeanor charges against the defendants, ranging from falsifying business records and willful violation of the public health law, to endangering the welfare of a physically disabled person. The defendants’ arraignments were scheduled for Friday, March 28.

The neglected patient, whose name has not yet been released, has since passed away.
