Hidden Cameras Catch Two Nursing Home Employees Abusing Patients.

In nursing homes across the country, the sad reality is that abuse and neglect are becoming more common than they were even just five years ago. Unsurprising is the rate in which cases are going unreported by the victims. Many victims of nursing home abuse are in a position in which they rely on their abusers for their care. In these situations, families may not know what to do when abuse occurs or even that it is happening. This is why victims should turn to an experienced nursing home abuse personal injury attorney to help guide them through this complicated litigation process, so they can begin to recover for all of their damages.

Video recorded inside a Pompano Beach, Florida nursing home of a 94 year-old man with dementia who is unable to speak are shocking and highly disturbing. These recordings show a certified nursing assistant forcefully trying to get the man off the bed. In one attempt, the patient is sent falling into a chair and then is hit on the head. In another clip, the nursing assistant is seen pouring mouthwash all over the patient. The hidden camera was placed in the elderly man’s room by a concerned daughter. She has now said that the video captured her worst fears.

In a separate incident, another hidden camera video shows a patient’s breathing tube being removed by a nursing assistant. The nursing assistant then appears to do nothing, despite alarms going off. She even reenters the room again after leaving. Five minutes go by until another employee comes in and sees the tube is disconnected. That nursing assistant claims she knew nothing about what happened, but the video reportedly shows otherwise.
