Elderly California Woman Dies from Nursing Home Neglect and Abuse.

77 year-old Alzheimer’s patient Johnnie Esco died in 2008 as a result of fecal impaction only thirteen days into her stay at a Placerville, California nursing home. At the time of her wrongful death, Esco required round the clock treatment. And yet, poor care and neglect by nurses led to Esco’s painful and untimely wrongful death, not even two weeks into her stay.

The former head nurse of the nursing home, 58 year-old Donna Darlene Palmer, has been charged with felony elder abuse. 39 year-old Rebecca Smith has also been charged in connection with the nursing home wrongful death, but will plead no contest and has offered to assist in Palmer’s prosecution in exchange for a lesser jail sentence.
