New York law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation this weekend. This comes after a Bronx, NY nursing home resident was found dead in his bed with a wire hanger around his neck.
The wrongful death incident occurred at around 8 p.m. this past Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Bainbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Avenue in Bronx, New York. Police discovered the 72 year-old man unconscious in his bed while responding to an assault report at the facility. Paramedics declared the assault victim dead at the scene.
New York police are investigating the circumstances of the suspicious wrongful death, and the medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The incident at the Bronx elder care facility, which has room for 200 residents, was the second of two deadly incidents at New York nursing homes on Friday. Earlier in the day, a 66 year-old male resident of a Queens nursing home was arrested for allegedly beating his 71 year-old roommate to death over an argument regarding the curtain separating their beds.
