82 Year-Old Massachusetts Woman Sexually Assaulted By Fellow Nursing Home Resident – Settles Case For $250,000.

An 82 year-old woman in a Reading, MA nursing home recently settled her sexual assault case against her former nursing home arising out of inappropriate touching and molestation by another resident. The woman was wheelchair bound and suffered a number of cognitive disabilities. The resident who molested her was younger and suffered no cognitive disabilities. Staff members at the Reading nursing home became suspicious that the younger resident was having inappropriate physical contact with the older woman, but were ultimately told to “keep their eyes shut.” Law enforcement officials elicited a confession out of the younger resident, and the 82 year-old woman subsequently filed a civil suit against the nursing home for Massachusetts nursing home neglect and abuse.
